UND02
Blurring distinctions between biography, autobiography, and fiction, Home explores the imprecise nature of memory and place. Its narrator recounts memories from childhood that seem at once reliable indicators of an early life, and fabrications of middle age. Why these memories exist, and to what end, is a mystery.
The text is set within a series of seemingly mundane domestic images: a home, clearly lived-in, but vacant; informal, but composed. They question what is “everyday” about the everyday. How these photographs relate to the text, and vice versa, is puzzling. Their pairing raises unexplained connections between past, present, and future, and those here and gone.
